The Sport, Exercise Medicine and Lifestyle Institute (SEMLI) at the University of Pretoria is a centre of excellence in applied sport science, athlete performance, and research. We are seeking a highly motivated Physiotherapist to join our multidisciplinary team and contribute to the rehabilitation, performance optimisation, and wellbeing of elite athletes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, treat, and rehabilitate patients presenting a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, injuries, and physical impairments.
- Provide evidence-based physiotherapy interventions for individuals of all activity levels, from general population to high-performance athletes.
- Collaborate closely with coaches, sport scientists, and medical staff to support optimal health, recovery, and injury prevention.
- Develop and implement individualised rehabilitation and return-to-function or return-to-play programmes.
- Contribute to research initiatives and mentor University of Pretoria students in applied physiotherapy practice.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physiotherapy, with valid HPCSA registration for private practice.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in sports physiotherapy or high-performance environments.
- First aid and/or basic life support certification.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
- Postgraduate qualification in sports physiotherapy or related field.
- Experience treating a broad range of patients, including both general and athletic populations.
- Familiarity with rehabilitation, injury prevention, and performance assessment tools.
Contract and Remuneration:
- Locum Agreement with a remuneration structure between yourself and the Company.
